Where do all those lost socks go?
Amy C.

Dear Amy,

That’s a great question. My theory is that the appliances eat them as sacrifices to convenience. “You want me to wash your clothes? You don’t want to break out a bucket and a washboard? That will require a sacrifice.” Sounds fair to me. Don’t question it, Amy, just let it have the socks.

Is the moon really made of cheese?
Nancy S.

Dear Nancy,

I hope not. I don’t want to think that there’s some incredible kind of cheese that’s so far away I will never get to try it. According to the internet, the moon is mostly made out of the minerals olivine, orthopyroxene, and clinopyroxene. Then again, the internet lies, so who knows?

How do you end a relationship when you break up with someone and they say “no?”
@Hillary1005

Dear Hillary,

That’s a tough one. I would say the first step, and one it appears you’ve already taken is to have a talk with the other person (for convenience, let’s call the other person “Person B.”). Talk to B to calmly and clearly explain why it’s not working out, making sure that you explain why it won’t work out for either of you. This isn’t just about you, make sure B knows it’s the best thing for both of you.

If that doesn’t work, just start walking the walk…right out the door. B will soon realize that you actually are gone, and might want to talk about it again. Briefly reiterate what you’ve already said and end the conversation. If you let B draw it out, you’ll be stuck in limbo. Sorry, B. It’s over. Hillary out.
