Is there a semi-nice way to point out a friend is being extremely hypocritical before they make a COMPLETE ass out of themselves?
@BulliBrat
Dear Bullibrat,
This is a tough situation. We want to protect our friends from making fools of themselves, but we need to do that gently enough to retain the friendship. Assuming that you do want to retain the friendship, you will need to tread lightly.
I think a couple of well-placed questions could cause your friend to notice the hypocrisy. The question is, will the friend listen or just get defensive? The first time, when they say something that doesn’t match up with an earlier statement, just say “Oh, didn’t you say X?” If you want to push further on another occasion, try “How does that mesh with your belief that Y?” If I were you, I wouldn’t argue with them, just let them know you know they’re being hypocritical. If it keeps up…well, there’s not much you can do to stop it.
Why are U-turns illegal in Michigan?
Heather N.
Dear Heather,
U-turns are illegal in Michigan because we have an overbearing government that doesn’t want us to be happy.
Should I increase my time at the gym or just dress head to toe in Spanx?
@ShannitysHair
Dear Hair,
They make head Spanx? They make TOE Spanx? Honestly, I would say you shouldn’t need to do either. Doesn’t Michelle Obama send a government agent to your house to force you to exercise and then cook you a delicious meal of kale with kale?
